Book of Shadows: Introduction and Color Correspondences

The Book of Shadows is a crucial element to any practitioner of The Craft and for good reason. A witch's Book of Shadows, BOS for short, is invaluable and sacred to the one who made it. They come in different forms and carry different lessons that speak of the individual that fashioned it. Each BOS is personalized to the best of its ability and holds within it the wisdom and knowledge of the ages.

Now, this isn't my BOS, this is from the film Practical Magic, but it shows how a Book of Shadows can transcend time and can provide someone of the present with knowledge of the past.

I'm not just going to talk and talk about a Book of Shadow, most of this entry will be pictures with some explanation. With that said, all of the pages/images can be saved and used for your own BOS or anything. Some of the pages won't be easy to read until you save them or print them, just saying.

The colors of magic are important for spell castings and rituals. They dictate what color candle, ribbon, or anything colorful should be.

Another color correspondence picture, but this one focuses on the human aspects of colors.

This makes the connection between the colors and the elements.

Colors are important, not just in Wicca, but in all things. Colors affect the mind and different colors affect different emotions. It's a good idea to consider what colors you surround yourself with whether or not it pertains to Wicca or spell-casting.

I surround myself with purple because its my favorite color, but it also drives my imagination and gets the creative juices flowing which helps in spell-casting for me. Think of what color you surround yourself with and see what that says about you, how it affects you, and how it lends its power to your magick.

Blessed Be!
